Chocolate Toffee Bars

One thing I love to do on weekends is bake! Usually I have very few requirements other then obviously making sure I have all the necessary ingredients, and to make sure the recipe is as bad for me as possible! This weekend I came across a recipe for Chocolate Toffee Bars and thought to give it a try!

I gathered up all the ingredients and gave it a try. Here is it!

All the yummy ingredients

INGREDIENTS:
1 2/3 cups flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup plus 2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup toffee bits

INFO:
350 degrees
13x9 - inch baking dish (coated with nonstick spray)
Takes about 45-60 mins total

DIRECTIONS:
In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.

Flour, Baking Soda & Salt Mixture

Get your mixer out and in a large bowl mix together the butter and brown sugar until it is completely blended. It should be a little fluffy. Slowly add the egg, then the vanilla and mix until combined.

Butter, Brown sugar, Egg, Vanilla

Slow your mixer down a little and add the flour mixture that we just put aside.

We are gettin' there!

You are now ready to add the best part! The chocolate chips and toffee bits. (Try not to eat too much of the raw batter! IT'S SOOO GOOD!)

Seriously.... Try not to eat this all.

Now you are ready to transfer the mixture into your baking dish. It's very sticky so either wet your hands and pat down evenly across the dish, or use a piece of wax or parchment paper to help you out.

Once your oven have reached 350, you are ready to bake this masterpiece! 18-20 minutes should do it, but keep an eye out for the edges. Once they are a nice golden brown, they are done. Insert a cake tester into the middle just to be safe. If it comes out clean, put them aside on a cooling rack until they are ready to cut.

Now you can divide them up, and once completely cooled you can store in an airtight container!
Super delicious!

Enjoy! They won't last very long, trust me.
