DIY Bath Sachets

A few years ago I made all my girlfriends some natural tea tubs for Christmas! They were such a hit that I have been asked to make more for birthdays, special occasions and just because. There is nothing more satisfying than having people love a gift that you crafted, and ask for more! It makes all the glue gun burns, pin pricks, and broken or damaged finger nails worth it!

Recently a good friend of mine requested I make her a new batch for her birthday and I decided to show you all how to do it. Not to mention it's a perfect craft to make this weekend as a Mother's Day gift!

So here we go...
What you will need:

  • Muslin or a light cotton fabric cut into 5in diameter circles. Use a small bowl to be your guide
  • Glue
  • Natural String or twine (I tested mine in water overnight to make sure it stayed strong after being soaked)
  • Dried flowers/herbs etc. I used lavender, peppermint and camomile
  • Bottle or mason jar
  • Labels for jar with ingredients and directions - I designed mine myself and had them printed on vinyl and laminated so that it wouldn't warp or run in a moisture filled bathroom
  • Labels for sachets - I just printed these on card stock. They most likely won't be submerged in water so I didn't worry about them too much.

When you have everything you need, you can start assembling them all together. I spread out the muslin cut outs and put about 1 tbsp of each ingredient on the circles as below.

Get a long piece of your twine or string, and gather up the the sides of the muslin circle. Wrap the twine as tight as possible around the sachet like in the image below.

You can now glue the label on the end of the string.

You should now have 1 fully assembled bath sachet. :)

I can fit about 9 sachets in the jars that I picked, 3 of each dried flower. These sachets are great for a foot or hand soak, or even hung over the faucet as you fill your bath tub! These make a perfect gift for any friend or family member! Don't forget Mom this Sunday!  Nothing says Happy Mothers Day like a gift that she can use to sit back, relax, and pamper herself.

On the back side of the label, I included a little description of each of the ingredients included in the jar, and what they are best used for as you can see below.

I've had a few friends use them for a foot soak after their weddings and they loved them! If you give this a try, please let me know how they turn out! I would love to see the different dried flowers and packaging options you choose!

Happy Crafting!
