Homemade Crispy Dippers!

A few weeks ago I decided to make some chips. I have never met a chip I didn't like so I figured maybe I should try my hand at making them instead of buying them! I had a few recipes that I collected over the last few months like salsa, guacamole, and hummus that would be great with these!

All you need are some flour or corn tortillas (whatever your preference), some canola or vegetable oil, salt and pepper and a large mixing bowl to combine everything.

First grab the tortillas and slice them into as many triangles as you like, and throw them all in the bowl.

Add two tablespoons of oil and toss. You don't want to soak them in oil as they won't crisp up when baking. Just a light coat is all you need!

Toss them on a parchment covered cookie sheet and separate any that are stuck together. Now you can sprinkle with salt and pepper! I was thinking about adding other ingredients like garlic and onion powder, or some chilli powder as well but I opted to stick with salt and pepper. Next time I will be a little more daring.

Put them in the oven at 350 degrees for 10-20 mins depending on how hot your oven cooks. I think I had to bake mine for about 18-20 mins before they started to brown. (Just make sure to watch them closely. The difference between perfect and burnt is only a few seconds!)

MMMmmmmmm take them out of the oven once they have reached the desired crispiness, let cool and chow down on the deliciousness!

Let me tell you, they were a hit at the family movie night! Everyone loved them with the guacamole I made, and they keep really well in a ziplock bag... After you finish stuffing your face that is. ;)

ENJOY!

  1. I love making my own tortilla chips too. I sometimes like to have them with a little bit of cinnamon and sugar. Tastes just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal!
